Travel Visa’s are only required if you plan to leave the Sinai Peninsula and travel to Cairo, Luxor or the Ras Mohammed National park, although, this only applied to divers, as snorkelers do not require a visa. A visa is not required anywhere else, so you can go straight through passport control when you arrive at Sharm El Sheikh International airport.
If you do require a visa, then there are a series of kiosks as you enter the terminal, before entering passport control. You will be guided to the correct kiosk upon entering the airport by your tour agent rep, and you simply ask for a visa and hand over your passport. Your passport will be stamped, and then you need to go through passport control. If you are booked with a well known tour operator, you will pay your rep for the Visa once you are on the hotel transfer bus. Payment is not required before you go through passport control. If in doubt please ask your rep!
Visa cost: £13/$15. (Correct at time of publishing – 06/2009, and is subject to change.) This can be paid in either GBP or US dollars. Please ensure you have the correct stamp before entering passport control.
If you would like to purchase a visa once you have already entered Sharm el Sheikh, you can arrange this with your travel rep, or take a short ride back to the airport.
